Eco-Friendly Halloween Decorations

Whether you’re hosting a party or looking for new decor, try doing an eco-friendly Halloween this year. Getting prepared for the festivities doesn’t mean you have to spend lots of money or produce holiday waste.  Instead of purchasing every Halloween decoration, try creating your own with items you already have in the house. We’ve put together a list of eco-friendly, upcycled and inexpensive ideas for you to try!

1. No Waste Pumpkin Carving

Instead of throwing the pumpkin insides away, roast the seeds and eat them as a snack or in a meal, and use the pulp for pies, muffins, and pancakes. After showcasing your pumpkins, compost them instead of throwing them in the garbage.

Welcome your guests with a fun and festive Halloween wreath! By using old brown paper bags, some glue and paint, you’ll greet them with authentic and personalized decor. Swap the Halloween theme for colourful leaves and you’ll have a wreath you can use all throughout fall.

An alternative to buying a pumpkin is making one yourself! If you have any old books that are falling apart or missing pages, try turning them into pumpkins. Use them as centerpieces for parties, or place them around the house as autumn decor!
